HSK 1–6 · 238 chapters · private beta
Mandarin that stays learned.
Most apps teach you words you forget by Thursday. Fushi teaches whole sentences, and schedules every review for the moment just before you’d forget it.
No signup. No login. No card.
01 · What we believe
No streaks. No gems. No cartoon owl.
- 01
Sentences, not word lists.
Every word arrives inside a sentence built only from words you already know.
- 02
Memory is modelled, not guessed.
Each card has its own stability and difficulty.
- 03
Honest about forgetting.
Mastered chapters visibly decay as recall drops.
- 04
Both directions.
Mandarin→English and English→Mandarin are drilled separately.
- 05
Nothing hidden.
Every grade button shows exactly when that card comes back.
- 06
Your pace.
Progress is measured by what you retain, not how long you stay.
02 · The language map
See the whole language laid out.
Every node is a chapter, branching from the chapters it builds on. Mastered chapters don’t stay green forever. They visibly fade as your recall drops, so you always know what needs attention.

03 · Spaced repetition
Reviews timed to the edge of forgetting.
FSRS v6 tracks the stability and difficulty of every card separately, with no fixed intervals. Mandarin→English and English→Mandarin are scheduled as separate cards.
FSRS v6 scheduling
The current state of the art in spaced repetition, tuned to your own reviews.
Two directions, two cards
Recognising a sentence and producing it are different skills, so they’re scheduled separately.
Decay you can see
Chapters fade on the map as recall drops, instead of pretending you still know them.
04 · Speaking practice
Then you open your mouth.
Shadowing
Hear a sentence, say it back. Your speech is transcribed and checked word by word.
Dictation
Hear it, write it. Catches the gaps reading alone hides.
Freetalk
An open microphone. Say it your way and get feedback.
05 · Level test
Find out exactly where you stand.
Adaptive, question by question: between 10 and 26 questions depending on how far you get.
06 · Questions
Is Fushi free?
The level test is free, with no account, login or payment card. Access to the learning app is currently through the private beta.
I’m a complete beginner. Is this for me?
Yes. HSK 1 starts from your first greetings, with pinyin and word meanings available as you learn. Because every sentence is built only from words already taught, you are never dropped in at the deep end. You don’t have to take the level test first.
How does placement work?
The level test starts at HSK 1 and climbs while you’re right. A wrong answer holds your position rather than dropping you, and before committing it probes the level below to confirm the placement. Your result carries into your account if you make one.
